A New Year and New Resolutions
January 4, 2024
Many people make resolutions for the New Year. Why? Do you? How do you choose what should be your resolution for the year? I have struggled with this my whole life. In fact, it sometimes stresses me out so much I give up. Here’s a different perspective on New Year’s resolutions …
Do you also stress out making resolutions or does it come easy to you? There was a period of time in which I would choose a theme for the year instead of a resolution. Lose weight in 2008 or It’s all about me in 2003. You can see I liked to have it rhyme with the year. Corny, I know!
Over the years, I have come to look at resolutions more as goals or accomplishments you set for yourself for that year. This makes it less stressful for me and easier to focus on the most important things for the year.
So you are probably thinking, “What will she do this year?”
This year I am actually making resolutions. Drum roll, please.
- Be kind to everyone – you never know what they are going through personally.
- Extend a lot of grace to those you know are struggling in life and help them if you can.
- Don’t dwell on petty stuff.
- Remove negativity from my life and think positively.
- Tell people I love them – more often.
There is one resolution I suggest for all of you working in radio: be proud of the industry. You work hard and serve your communities well. Pat yourselves on the back and celebrate your successes … especially the small ones. You can find those every day. If you can’t, then give me a call and I will help you identify those successes to celebrate.
I wish you all a very prosperous and Happy New Year!
